Looking for something different - try Mediterraneo

Walking along Road 9 in Maadi you wouldn't notice the place unless you happen to stand in front of CIB Bank and look across the street. To get to Mediterraneo Restaurant you have to first walk through a beautifully decorated brick archway and up one flight of stairs. You will be greeted immediately by a staff member who will open the door for you as if you are being invited into a friend's home. Inside you can will be cooled by the air conditioner, but looking up at the scene painted on the ceiling, feel as if you are eating outside under the swirls of sky blue and clouds. Start looking over the menu and you will know for sure you have arrived at some exotic location. A mixture of Greek, Italian, French, Japanese, and even a touch of Mexican makes it hard to decide, especially if you are extremely hungry. The menu also offers a range of breakfast foods, sandwiches, burgers, and steaks. The steaks tend to be a bit pricey compared to other restaurants in the area. Even with all the place has to offer, I find myself ordering the same thing every time. It's just that good.

We always start off with a glass (or two or three) of fresh watermelon juice, followed by spring rolls. The spring rolls are, hands down, the best I have ever had anywhere. My husband always goes for something seafood. I'm not a seafood eater. With as many choices as the menu has to offer - I can't seem to find my way past the cream chicken with lemon. It comes with a side of pasta and grated Parmesan cheese. For dessert they offer fruit crepes, cheesecake, and fried ice cream among others. But we are always so full from the appetizers and main course that we have never gotten that far.

You may find the prices to be a bit higher than the average in the area. But that may be because they do not include tax or service charge on your bill. They do deliver. For more info call the restaurant at 202-2380-5030.
